This document contains important information about the Wonderware® FactorySuite (FS) Gateway 3.0. Please carefully review this document for known issues in this version and changes, if any, to the FS Gateway 3.0 documentation included on this CD.
FS Gateway 3.0 delivers enhancements in functionality; a new version of the DAServer Runtime Components is also being delivered to increase FS Gateway’s performance. This section describes the new features and enhancements in FS Gateway 3.0.
FS Gateway 3.0 offers the following enhancements:
FS Gateway OPC Data Source supports the RequestVT syntax (/VT item suffix). You can configure OPC data sources to use the /VT item suffix to gain better control of data retrieval in FS Gateway. Using the /VT item suffix enables you to tell the OPC server the type of data you want the OPC server to report to FS Gateway.
FS Gateway 3.0 supports the following newer operating systems:
Note: 64-bit processor support is provided through the use of Microsoft's WoW64 emulation component.
The FS Gateway is supported in the same operating systems as ArchestrA System Platform 2012, Application Server 2012 R2 (v3.6), and InTouch HMI 2012 R2 (v10.6). For more information, see the ArchestrA System Platform 2012 Readme. Note: FS Gateway can be installed on computers running any of the following non English operating systems: French, German, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese. The following restrictions and conditions apply to Windows Vista and newer operating systems.

To run FS Gateway, we recommend as a minimum the following hardware configuration:
8 gigabytes (GB) of available hard disk space.
Super VGA (1024 × 768) or higher-resolution video adapter and monitor.
CD-ROM or DVD drive.
Keyboard and mouse or compatible pointing device.
Before installing FS Gateway 3.0, it is strongly recommended that you exit all Wonderware programs, including executable (.exe) files and services. Detailed installation instructions are included in the DAServer Installation Guide. It is recommended that you read the DAServer Installation Guide prior to beginning the installation process.
In addition to the procedures described in the DAServer Installation Guide, the following installation requirements and other requirements pertaining to the installation and uninstall orders have to be followed.
The following installation requirements are prerequisites for the FS Gateway 3.0 to work properly.
The installation for the DAServers/FS Gateway and other Wonderware FactorySuite™ products on the same computer must follow the order as outlined. A DAServers/FS Gateway must always be installed last.
This installation order resolves any differences that may exist in the common components included with individual product releases, so that the products install and run without version conflicts. For future patches, follow the installation instructions from the patch.
After you install a DAServer/FS Gateway on a computer with other Wonderware FactorySuite products, the following applies:
Note: ArchestrA™ products, such as InTouch 8.0 or greater, do not have any installation/uninstall order requirements with the DAServer/FS Gateway.

FS Gateway User’s Guide. This guide describes how to configure and use FS Gateway.
DAServer Manager User’s Guide. This guide describes how to use the DAServer Manager, which hosts FS Gateway.
Log Viewer User’s Guide. This guide describes how to use the Log Viewer, a utility that provides troubleshooting information about the FS Gateway.
Log Flag Editor User’s Guide. This guide describes how to use the Log Flag Editor, a utility through which you can control the types of messages displayed in the Log Viewer.
The documentation describing how to use this product is included on the CD in PDF format. Viewing these guides requires the installation of the Adobe's Acrobat Reader. This utility is not included on this CD, but it can be downloaded for free from the Adobe Web site at the following Web address:

After downloading the file from Adobe, you must run the executable to install it on your computer. Follow the typical installation routine. After installation, you can either open the Acrobat Reader and select a user's guide from the File menu, or double-click a user's guide on the CD in Windows Explorer.
